Modifiable Walking Pattern Generator on Unknown Uneven Terrain

چکیده
This paper proposes a novel algorithm for humanoid robots to walk on unknown uneven terrain by using the Modifiable Walking Pattern Generator (MWPG). The proposed algorithm runs with a finite state machine including ascending and descending states. If the landing time of a swinging leg on unknown uneven terrain is shorter than the assigned single support time, the state is switched to the ascending state. If longer, the state is switched to the descending state. When a swinging leg lands on a surface of unknown uneven terrain, robot receives an impulsive contact force. The average impulsive contact force is reduced by expanding the duration of the contact time with respect to the impulsemomentum equation. According to the change of the step length due to unknown uneven terrain, the newly calculated center of mass (CoM) trajectory in the double support phase after landing the swinging leg is used. The proposed algorithm is used with the modified foot trajectory for adapting to the height of the uneven terrain. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated through computer simulations using the simulation model of the small-sized humanoid robot, HanSaRam-IX (HSR-IX).

Walking Pattern Generation on Inclined and Uneven Terrains for Humanoid Robots
This paper introduces a walking pattern generation method on an inclined terrain in both pitch and roll directions, and uneven terrain. The walking pattern generation method is based on a modifiable walking pattern generator (MWPG) which allows a zero moment point (ZMP) variation in real-time. As a navigational command set, a 3-D command state (CS) is defined, which consists of single and doubl...
متن کاملBiomechanics and energetics of walking on uneven terrain.
Walking on uneven terrain is more energetically costly than walking on smooth ground, but the biomechanical factors that contribute to this increase are unknown. To identify possible factors, we constructed an uneven terrain treadmill that allowed us to record biomechanical, electromyographic and metabolic energetics data from human subjects. We hypothesized that walking on uneven terrain would...

In this paper, stable modifiable walking pattern algorithm is proposed using evolutionary optimized central pattern generator (CPG). Sensory feedback pathways in CPG are proposed, which use force sensing resistor (FSR) signals. For the optimization of CPG parameters, two-phase evolutionary programming (TPEP) is employed. Modifiable walking pattern generator (MWPG) generates position trajectory ...
متن کاملWalking on Uneven Terrain
Control of legged locomotion across uneven terrain is poorly understood from a theoretical perspective, despite strong relevance to clinical and robotic applications. Gait research has typically examined locomotion on smooth and level surfaces with uniform steps. Identifying key gait parameters that permit agile locomotion across uneven surfaces could lead to a clearer understanding of control ...

This paper presents a novel gait generation approach which combines a reactionary and a central pattern generator (CPG) system. The former couples isolated leg controllers by simple gait generation rules that ensure static stability and produce a continuum of gait patterns across the full speed range. The CPG system is based on six coupled oscillators and complements the reactionary system to f...
